It Doesn't Have To Be Thhhhhatttt Hard?

Published almost 2 years ago • 1 min read

It's me again Reader,

The last time we spoke, I talked about never missing twice in my fitness journey. That might have went over your head so let me break it down.

The idea is we often beat ourselves up and see ourselves as a failure when we miss one thing twice.

Whether that’s not hitting the gym, eating an undeserved piece of cake, forgetting to respond to a friend or loved one. We spend sooo much time harping on the fact that we didn’t do it, that we demotivate and psych ourselves out of doing it the next time.

The mindset of never missing twice is exactly that. You made a mistake or didn’t do something once, don’t let that define the rest of the day, the week, or the rest of the month. We get a new day every day. Give yourself a new slate and go get it done!

This mindset shift goes a long way and I re-enforce this mindset with my habit tracker in my Be Great planner. Physically ticking off that I did a habit is super motivating, and seeing that I don’t get to do it a day that I miss is defeating but because of this mindset shift, I do not carry it into the next day, I still go get it done! If you have not got yours yet, you can still use this 10% off discount code "BEGREAT".

I know you are probably saying, but it is not that easy. It is not. But it doesn't have to be thhhhhhhhat hard either

Let's take a real example, over the last 3 months, I only missed twice 2 times in my fitness journey. Some workouts I kill it, others are a measly 200 calories burned. However, I still get it done and I am reinforcing the habit and making the time for it. Even when work is crappy, Even when I want to catch a baseball game with friends, I still go and say I get it done. Once I got over the hump and made it a habit, then was able to push myself further when I did do it and make the most of my time.

So what habit do you want to focus on today and for the rest of the week?

I would love to hear :)

This concept comes from James Clear, the author of Atomic Habits. Check out the full video here

Happy Hump Day Reader This is a special edition of my newsletter. I am crossing a new horizon tomorrow. If you recall from a previous newsletter, I set my goals and milestones around my birthday. In setting these new goals, I noticed a reoccurring pattern. I was intentional and reflective about what did not serve me thus far, what did serve me and add value, and really where my growth moments are from a mindset and personal development aspect. By way of celebrating my birthday with you, I...
